Welcome to the EKkids website
The best place to find information and support for children
0 – 6 years and their families in the East Kootenay region.
The broad range of information accessible on this site is developed through a partnership with East
Kootenay Children First, East Kootenay Success By 6 and Genex Marketing.
Early Years Coordinators from each of our East Kootenay communities continually update
their community’s pages with the latest news, information and resources for easy access for
parents.
What you will find on this website:
• Get answers to questions about the early years
• Get information about programs and services that are available for young children and their
families within their community
• Find the contact information to be able to talk to early years professionals, as well as other
parents and caregivers in the community
We are here for all children up to six years of age and their parents and caregivers.

• Early training and literacy programs for parents and their children;
• Programs to support parents and caregivers in all aspects of early childhood development, e.g.
programs on nutrition and health;
• Information and training for new parents about pregnancy and parenting;
• Information about other early years programs in the community;
EKkids is dedicated to enriching family and community life by
providing information on accessible social and educational programs, resources and services for
parents/caregivers and their children (prenatal to six years). We envision communities where
children have a healthy start in life, are safe and secure, and have access to a range of learning
activities to strengthen their readiness to learn.
The website is continually updated and we welcome feedback on any gaps, ideas for
improvements and contributions. Users of the site can give feedback using comment boxes on
the site.
